Home-based | South West Region

Covering: Devon and surrounding areas, including Newton Abbot, Seaton, Barnstaple, Paignton and Bideford, with potential expansion into additional locations as new contracts are secured.

Hours: Monday to Friday, core office hours, with participation in an on-call rota (approximately 1 in 8 weeks).

We are looking for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to lead our Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) programmes across the South West. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong operational leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality healthcare services and making a tangible difference to patients' lives.

The Role

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the operational leadership, performance and continuous improvement of multiple LCS programmes. Working closely with internal teams, commissioners and external stakeholders, you will ensure services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with contractual requirements.

You'll play a key role in driving operational excellence while supporting the continued growth of one of the UK's most important early cancer detection programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational delivery of multiple Lung Cancer Screening programmes across the region
  • Ensure services consistently meet contractual, performance and quality standards
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS commissioners, partners and subcontractors
  • Monitor, analyse and report on programme performance, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Drive service innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support strategic planning and contribute to the development of operational policies and procedures
  • Lead, coach and motivate teams to deliver outstanding patient care and service excellence
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, governance and patient safety requirements

  • Proven experience in healthcare operations management or national screening programmes
  • Strong knowledge of Lung Cancer Screening pathways, service specifications and key performance indicators
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and managing operational performance
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical, reporting and auditing capabilities
  • Experience driving quality improvement and service development initiatives
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

* This includes colleagues delivering face to face patient care in the Lung screening mobile units, Endoscopy, AAA Screening, Breast Screening, PET-CT, Audiology, Mobiles, Imaging Centres and CDC’s. Note that this payment is not applicable to clinical staff working within the Echocardiography division, or Diabetic Eye Screening. The Weekend Payment does not apply to those on a flexible working agreement and part time workers that have requested to work weekend hours/days as part of their working agreement. The Weekend Payment also doesn’t apply to those who are working remotely or carrying out administrative work from home.
